YouTube is a video sharing platform which launched in February 2005. It has been home to various official BattleBots content since September 2006.[1]
The site is home to exclusive BattleBots compilation videos, often region-locked to international audiences, as well as uploads of individual fights from across the reboot seasons. the BattleBots YouTube channel in particular first began by uploading the first episode of the 2009 BattleBots Collegiate Championship as a pilot for the network CBS. However, this proved unsuccessful and the channel remained dormant.
In 2015, following the announcement of World Championship I, the season trailer was uploaded. Soon after, the Bot Breakdowns mini series hosted by Bobak Ferdowsi was also uploaded amidst various qualifying battles.
Beginning in 2018, a series of unaired fights were uploaded to the YouTube channel, known as the 'Basement Tapes'. These showed unaired or highlighted fights from the main competitions, as well as grudge matches and exhibitions.
The channel has since been home to miscellaneous videos, including unique POVs from a previous season's fights including from robots' perspectives, and from the BotCam made by Brady Davis of SubZero fame.
During World Championship VII, a brand-new series was uploaded to the BattleBots YouTube channel - Bot Whisperings. The series features Pete Abrahamson and features behind-the-scenes interview content not seen on the televised show. After each episode of World Championship VII, the best fight (or fights) were also uploaded to the BattleBots YouTube channel, dubbed Fight of the Week.
With the introduction of BattleBots: Destruct-A-Thon, Greg Munson confirmed the intention for Proving Ground battles to be uploaded to YouTube for public viewing on a later date, similar to how Vengeance in Vegas exhibition battles were uploaded in 2022. He also stated fights from the 2022 re:MARS all:STARS BattleBots Challenge would ultimately be uploaded to the YouTube channel.
As well as BattleBots having their own YouTube channel, entire seasons of BattleBots are also available to purchase via YouTube for their domestic audience, starting from World Championship III.
