Y-Pout was a heavyweight robot built by Team Whyachi which competed in the final two seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a triangular, five-wheeled robot which used its body and drive power as a weapon, spinning three wheels towards the outer edge of its chassis and using the hardened S7 tool steel teeth on the ends of the body to do damage.
A smaller, two-wheel drive "navbot" inside the robot served as the robot's direction finder, oscillating its wheel speeds to show translational movement in a specific direction. As its titanium frame also made up its weapon, Y-Pout's design meant that it had a 205lb spinning mass rotating at 147mph.[1]
Y-Pout became Team Whyachi's heavyweight entry into Seasons 4.0 and 5.0 following a change in rules which meant their Giant Nut-winning Son of Whyachi now had to compete as a superheavyweight. Despite its unique design, however, Y-Pout lost its both of its matches, and as a result was never seen on TV.
The Ewert family also had a middleweight version of Y-Pout named Why Not, which won a single battle but also fell in the preliminary rounds in both seasons it fought in.

Y-Pout vs. Jabberwock Y-Pout's first and only match of Season 4.0 was against Jabberwock. In the match, Y-Pout started spinning and both robots collide into each other. Y-Pout was still spinning but it began to slow down. After Jabberwock collides into Y-Pout again, Y-Pout bounced off Jabberwock and hits the arena wall. This impact caused Y-Pout to stop moving entirely. The impact seemed to knock a battery pack loose inside Y-Pout. Jabberwock got underneath the immobile Y-Pout and stopped moving moments after. Despite this, Y-Pout was still being counted out and Jabberwock won by KO. This meant that Y-Pout was eliminated from the tournament. |
Season 5.0[] |
Y-Pout vs. P.T. Bruiser Returning for Season 5.0, Y-Pout first took on Edward Robinson and P.T. Bruiser. In this match, P.T. Bruiser took heavy damage from the Team Whyachi robot. However, P.T. Bruiser survived long enough to outlast Y-Pout, who eventually stopped moving. P.T. Bruiser won by knockout and Y-Pout fell in the preliminary rounds again. |
