WulfBane was a middleweight robot built by the APSF Robotics Division which competed in three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.

It was originally a box-shaped robot armed with a thwacking battleaxe weapon which could also be used as a battering ram. It was primarily made from steel, and featured ¼" thick Lexan top armor. In its debut season, WulfBane defeated Zombie before losing to Bouncing Betty in the preliminary rounds. WulfBane was also registered to compete in Season 4.0, but the team's truck broke down en route to the event, meaning it was unable to compete.

WulfBane was revised for Season 5.0 and now sported a rear wedge and a hinged, arrowhead-shaped front wedge. It was also notably faster than its first build. WulfBane advanced through its first fight by forfeit and won its second against Hipoponomous, but lost out to S.O.B. and was eliminated.

The team that built WulfBane also built a lightweight named Blue Vixen.

Outside BattleBots[]

WulfBane would continue competing during and after Comedy Central BattleBots.

Prior to Season 5.0, WulfBane fought at BotBash 2001 as WulfBane RAV-2. It first lost to Two-Fisted, but returned to winning ways against Something Wicked. WulfBane RAV-2 beat All Weather Tire Bot in the loser's bracket before being destroyed by Garm. It then entered RoboJoust II in a combined middleweight and heavyweight division. After twice defeating Particle Accelerator and then beating Chameleon, WulfBane won the division outright. It also took part in an end-of-competition rumble, but lost this exhibition fight.[1]

At RoboJoust III in 2002, WulfBane lost its one and only fight to Snapper. WulfBane returned for Steel Conflict 2, where it lost all three of its fights to Problem Child, Jimmy and in a rumble against Tesla's Tornado, Tuka the Cat and Mars. Later that year, WulfBane was revamped again, now featuring ⅛" aluminum top armor, and won second place BotBash 2002 based as Aconite.[2]

Under the name Lupas Ex Lunas, WulfBane would also compete at Robojoust V.[3] There, it went 1-2, losing to Chummy and Psychotron but chalking up a win against Carnivorous Bunny. It would later participate in a rumble involving superheavyweight Blue Max, but no winner was declared.

Robot History[]

Season 3.0[]

WulfBane vs. Zombie

WulfBane's BattleBots debut was against Zombie. WulfBane won the match and advanced to next preliminary round.

WulfBane vs. Bouncing Betty

Next up for WolfBane was Bouncing Betty. Though this fight went the distance, Bouncing Betty won on a 33-12 judges' decision and WulfBane was eliminated from the tournament.

Season 4.0[]

WulfBane vs. MicroVore

WulfBane was scheduled to take on MicroVore in the Season 5.0 preliminary rounds, but MicroVore was unable to pass safety inspection so WulfBane won by default.

WulfBane vs. Hipoponomous

WulfBane advanced to the next preliminary battle, where it faced Hipoponomous. WulfBane got under its opponent on several occasions and rammed Hipoponomus into the spikestrip during this battle. This fight went the distance and WulfBane won on a 26-19 judges' decision.

WulfBane vs. S.O.B.

WulfBane's next opponent was S.O.B. in the final preliminary round.

"Knowing that I could easily get stuck in their tray, I went into this fight planning on faking them out by driving tail-end first, miss on purpose, then be in perfect position to push them from behind. That plan was scrapped in the first 5 seconds of the fight when I realized that I couldn't make WulfBane drive backwards straight."

WulfBane experienced drive issues from the start in this battle, which allowed S.O.B. to scoop WulfBane up and drive it around the BattleBox for much of the fight. S.O.B. won by judges' decision and WulfBane was eliminated again.
