Witch Doctor is one of twelve ShowBots which compete regularly at BattleBots: Destruct-A-Thon, the first BattleBots live event of its kind.
It is very similar to its competitive counterpart, though the ShowBot builds of Witch Doctor feature four foam-filled wheels of identical sizes as opposed to the bespoke wheels seen on the actual robot. Its weapon disk also has a slightly more rounded tooth and its ribcage rear armor is less pronounced. Unlike the true Witch Doctor, the ShowBots also lack a self-righting mechanism.
As with all other ShowBots, Witch Doctor is standardized to use OYES switches made by Team End Game, as well as lithium iron phosphate batteries as opposed to lithium polymer batteries. The latter was enforced to reduce the risk of hazardous fires during shows.[2] The Witch Doctor ShowBot is heavier than the 250lb weight limit enforced by BattleBots production for their televised World Championships, cited as weighing 316lbs.
During shows, Witch Doctor is typically captained by hired actress Bella Hue and maintained by Elijah Neal. Although it has been known to fight several robots, it most often faces off against HyperShock in the show's Main Event. On September 10, 2023, Witch Doctor was drafted in to fight Fireball following the withdrawal of The Twins. It was driven by Trey Roski and won by knockout.
Outside BattleBots[]
One of the Witch Doctor ShowBots was loaned to American magician and illusionist Criss Angel, who sporadically attends Destruct-A-Thon shows, for the set of his podcast.

Witch Doctor vs. Fireball (9/10/2023) The ShowBot version of Witch Doctor was first drafted in to replace The Twins on September 10, 2023. There, it took on rookie bot Fireball.Despite the weight disparity, Fireball started on the aggressive, circling Witch Doctor while preparing to activate its flamethrower. Fireball then struck the front of its 330lb opponent and tore a front panel away. But as it charged to deliver a follow-up attack, Fireball got its right-side fork stuck in the killsaw slots and Witch Doctor had a free hit on the rear panel of Fireball, ripping into its armor on impact.
Brian Boxell's bot landed upside-down in the blue square and a follow-up shot from Witch Doctor righted it, but left its right rear wheel exposed. Witch Doctor struck the side of Fireball and threw it towards the screws of the Upper Deck. As the attacks high-sided its wheels, Fireball could no longer drive. A count began after one last hit from the ShowBot, which took the win by knockout. |
