WarSaw was a middleweight robot built by the Texas-based Pandora's Bots team, which competed at the BattleBots NPC Charity Open in 2004, and the private 2006 Cisco Party event.

It was an invertible, two-wheel drive robot armed with a three-toothed, horizontal spinning disk. While boasting powerful weaponry, WarSaw enjoyed limited success, losing three of its matches across both of its appearances.

Outside BattleBots[]

Completed in 2003, WarSaw immediately achieved success at live events, beginning with a 2-2 run at Robocide and a 4-1 run at Robot Assault 2003. After winning its first encounter against Choppir in the 120lb division, it would lose out to the latter in the final. Prior to the NPC Charity Open, it would attain a 3-2 record at Steel Conflict 5 at the Southwest Division Championships, winning against Hardcore Robotics' The Mortician in the process.[2]

WarSaw's 2005 campaign began with another 4-1 run at Robot Rebellion 5.1. After losing its first battle against the middleweight SubZero, it rebounded with wins over Green Wave, Liquidated Damages and Dark Strike, before equalizing its loss with a final victory over SubZero. At Robotic Revolution in New Orleans, WarSaw again went 2-2, but was eliminated through defeats to The Revenant and Devil's Plunger respectively. The SubZero grudge was rekindled at the 2006 Texas Cup, with WarSaw losing both of its scheduled matches against it. WarSaw's final known appearance was at the 2008 Combots Texas Cup, in which it lost its only documented fight to IceCube.[2]

Robot History[]

NPC Charity Open 2004[]

Warsaw vs Adonai

After receiving a bye in round one, WarSaw went up against Adonai. Adonai pushed WarSaw around the arena for much of the fight and as time ran out, Adonai won on a judges' decision. This meant that WarSaw was now in the loser's bracket.

WarSaw vs Papercut

After receiving another bye, WarSaw went up against Papercut. Papercut won by KO and WarSaw was eliminated from the tournament.

Cisco Party 2006[]

WarSaw vs SubZero

WarSaw's first match of the private Cisco Party bracket came against SubZero.

SubZero's flipper breaks when trying to throw WarSaw.

In the early stages of this match, SubZero pushed WarSaw around with its anti-horizontal wedge at the back and evaded the spinning disk of its opponent. When SubZero tried to flip WarSaw, however, its primary weapon snapped in the center and was disabled for the remainder of the match.

this moment, WarSaw appeared immobile, but SubZero pressed on, shoving WarSaw around and stacking it against the wall on its side. WarSaw was then freed and charged across the BattleBox, only to be pushed around again and later carried by its opponent.

despite the damage, SubZero won the eventual judges' decision, eliminating WarSaw.

WarSaw vs Bling Bling

WarSaw also had a second fight during the event - a grudge match against a backup robot called Bling Bling.

WarSaw got the first hit of the match, destabilizing Bling Bling as its damaged weapon continued to spin, hopping around the arena. WarSaw struck the sides of Bling Bling, who struggled for mobility in the blue square as its weapon came to a stop.

The fight went the distance and WarSaw ultimately took the win by judges' decision..[3]
