WAR Hawk is a heavyweight robot built by Western Allied Robotics, which competed in BattleBots World Championship III and IV.
It is a four-wheel drive robot armed with a powerful, 40lb vertical spinner made from AR500 steel, and adorned with Native American artwork. WAR Hawk was armed with a selection of different weapon modules, similar to 2016 season runner-up Bombshell. WAR Hawk was equipped with a solid front wedge, which would feed opponents into its large, dual-toothed spinning disk. In order to run inverted and still use its weapon, two skate wheels were attached to 'ears' protruding above the primary weapon. The 'WAR' in its name was an acronym for the team name Western Allied Robotics. The team also had a minibot called WAR Stop, which became infamous for its speed and durability during the show. The robot was driven by Rob Farrow, who previously competed in the original BattleBots run with lightweight semi-finalist Death By Monkeys.

WAR Hawk largely impressed during its debut season, going 3-1 in the Fight Night rounds and winning its play-in to break into the Top 16. There, however, it was defeated by No.2 seed Bronco.

WAR Hawk during World Championship IV hero shots.
Western Allied Robotics and WAR Hawk returned for World Championship IV a substantially more durable robot. Due to the fact they only had a five week deadline prior to their debut season, they were unable to armor it as well as they would have liked. The new armor now covered the motor and drive chains, the wedge was repainted and it had custom wheels. For weaponry, WAR Hawk could now switch between its disk or a new vertical bar spinner. WAR Stop also returned, now sporting a phoenix on its wedge. Despite being a more complete bot, the second version of WAR Hawk proved to be less reliable than its previous iteration, notably being split into thirds at the hands of Jake Ewert and Hydra due to defective rubber isolators.
WAR Hawk was originally accepted to compete in the 2020 season prior to its postponement. However, they withdrew from the final roster for unknown reasons. The team posted updates on the bot in the months that followed, teasing a potential return for World Championship VI. WAR Hawk's weapons now weighed 30 and 40lbs respectively, and could spin at the BattleBots tip speed limit of 250mph thanks to the four Maytech 6880 brushless motors powering it. Despite applying, they were not selected for the season and ultimately missed out for a second successive year.
Driver of WAR Stop, Kevin Milczewski, competed with Claw Viper in future seasons, whereas Martin Mason became the talisman for MadCatter. Emmanuel Carrillo also split off to enter Big Dill and assist with driving part of multibot Jäger during the 2021 competition.
Outside BattleBots[]
An early version of WAR Hawk competed in China under the captaincy of Martin Mason. Known as Cat King, it was designed by Team Food Fight and fought in both This is Fighting Robots and King of Bots II.
Martin Mason had previously competed with a similarly-designed Bad Kitty during BattleBots World Championship II, which itself was an updated VD6.0. Cat King also featured an alternative lifting arm, which was a secondary weapon later seen on MadCatter.
In This is Fighting Robots, Cat King was accompanied by a minibot themed to look like a mouse. Its first fight came in a four-way rumble against Greedy Snake, Whirlwind Cut and Spike Head. Though it did not win this rumble, it was still selected to fight in another rumble against 008, Red River Hong and Weber. Despite using its lifter module, It lost this rumble to Weber, later also losing a one-on-one battle against the Russian entry, Weber. Cat King picked up its first and second wins against the Australian-British entry Great White and the Chinese Xiake. At this stage, however, Cat King was not selected to continue in the competition.
Returning for King of Bots II, Cat King lost its opening battle against Iron Scrap, but returned to form with a quick knockout against the Tombstone-inspired Medusa. In a 2v2 team battle, Cat King was paired with Spectre and defeated ORBY Blade and Rhino.
After beating Earth Shovel by judges' decision, Cat King entered the final Attrition War stage representing its celebrity team, but lost by knockout to Deep-Sea Shark and finished second overall alongside its teammates.

For this fight, the team brought their minibot WAR Stop into the BattleBox. Things were off to a good start for WAR Hawk when the match got underway as they dislodged extra armor Overhaul added for the fight. However, this did little to the actual chassis so WAR Hawk delivered another hit. This proved to be somewhat costly as WAR Hawk was having drive issues, allowing Overhaul to have some control. WAR Hawk took a shot from the killsaws while it was parked there, but was still able to spin its weapon and cause damage. As the damage mounted, WAR Hawk was still gaining some control and eventually a fire broke out from within Overhaul with 15 seconds left. Time ran out and the judges awarded a unanimous 3-0 decision to WAR Hawk. |

WAR Hawk then had one last chance to make the Top 16 and earn the No.15 seed by facing End Game and Brutus in a rumble. WAR Hawk held back a bit while End Game tore off Brutus' front wedge. WAR Hawk then took advantage of End Game's driving error and threw them onto their weapon where they couldn't self-right up against the arena screws. With Brutus' defenses and offenses already down, WAR Hawk then put Brutus up against the arena barrier in the same fashion. WAR Hawk was the only mobile robot left and was declared the winner by KO. |

WAR Hawk's next fight would be up against the No.2 seed and former semi-finalist, Bronco. When the match began, both robots were cautious to approach for several seconds until Bronco turned to the side and took a hit from WAR Hawk. Bronco continued to fight and after lots of maneuvering, tossed WAR Hawk onto its back. WAR Hawk used the arena to self-right and Bronco took another hit from it. Bronco then got WAR Hawk onto the screws, which ground away at WAR Hawk until they got free. However, by this point, WAR Hawk had no mobility left and while WAR Hawk was being counted out, Bronco went after one of the minibots and threw it into the air. This loss eliminated WAR Hawk from the tournament. |
