Trippy was a heavyweight robot built by Josh O'Briant of Team Circuit Breaker which competed in Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a four-wheeled robot armed with a spring-loaded trap mechanism featuring three tipped spikes. The mechanism used a winch to draw back its spike rack slowly, then snapping it forward with a torsion spring on each side. In keeping with its name, Trippy made use of a psychadelic paint scheme across its curved top armor. Trippy did not perform well in competition, losing its first and only preliminary fight against Tulsa Hurricane.
Outside BattleBots[]
Trippy competed at other events, sometimes going under the name Crazy 8.[1] At Las Vegas Street Fight IV (also known as RoboJoust), Crazy 8 first fought and lost to The Matador before defeating Giant Pacific Land Squid and Particle Accelerator. A second loss, this time to S-Jay, confirmed its elimination.[2]
At RoboJoust V, Crazy 8's only known fight was a loss to Bullistic.[2]
