Torquemada was a superheavyweight robot built by Team Warhippies for Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a two-wheel drive, invertible robot armed with a static triangular plow. Torquemada lost its only preliminary match to Pharmapac.
Torquemada missed out on Season 5.0 as the team were in the process of moving from Lawrence, Kansas to Chicago, Illinois during filming. However, the team rebuilt the robot after Season 4.0, creating a new frame and adding large springs behind the front of the plow for better shock absorption. It is unknown whether the team were planning on competing at the proposed 'Season 6.0', but they did express interest in competing at Mechwars.[1]
The team also teased the idea of creating a middleweight version of Torquemada called Torquey II in order for ease of travel.[1] However, this design was never built.

Torquemada vs. Pharmapac Torquemada's first fight was against Pharmapac. Largely a pushing match, Pharmapac used its wedge and lifting arm to comfortable get underneath the plow of Torquemada. Eventually, Torquemada was flipped over, but was able to run inverted but could not utilize its plow while upside-down. Torquemada spent much of the latter stages avoiding Pharmapac, which was losing a lot of mobility towards the end of the match. Pharmapac and Torquemada survived the distance where Pharmapac won a 28-17 judges' decision. As a result, Torquemada was eliminated. |
