Torque Reaction is the name given to describe a sudden transfer of force which is absorbed by part of a robot, and results in movement elsewhere.
This can be utilised in weaponry on BattleBots competitors in the form of overhead thwackbots which feature an unpowered arm swinging over as a robot suddenly brakes, like Starchild and The Master in specific configurations.
As well as this, robots can make use of spinning masses to rotate part of their weapon in the opposite direction, such as Horizon. Notably, Horizon uses an unpowered bar upon which two horizontal spinning disks are mounted. As the long bar is not powered, it rotates in one direction while both disks spin in the other. As per BattleBots Design Rules, this would allow Horizon's overall spinning mass to bypass the 80lb combined total if desired as only the disks would contribute to this rule being abided.
