- "Wave your red flag and run for life when you see the Toro Grip and Grappler. This bot has been known to cause extreme discomfort to robots. It doesn't matter if you've got thick titanium armor, because when you come into contact with the horns of Toro, your most likely going to be airborne."
- — The toy's official description on the BattleBots Store[1]
Toro was one of nine BattleBots competitors released as part of Jakks Pacific's line of Grip N' Grapplers toys in 2001.
Like every other toy in the range, the main robot was attached to a flexible, clear plastic tube connected to a pull trigger. When activated, the trigger would power Toro's iconic flipping arm.
In the case of Toro, both of its weak points were located on its side panels, which when struck, would "explode" to signify the robot being knocked out. Toro also comes with a practice robot - Striker. A revised, battle-damaged Toro toy was later released, similar to the Battle Bashers line also produced by Jakks Pacific.
Other Releases[]
Alongside Mauler, Ziggo, and numerous practice robots, Toro was also released in a Toys 'R Us exclusive pack of Grip N' Grappler toys known as Kings of the BattleBox.
