The Little Engine That Killed was a lightweight robot which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
The Little Engine That Killed was a four-wheel drive invertible robot armed with a hinged wedge. It was armored with aluminum and lexan. It was originally planned to have six wheels but dropped two during the building process.[1] It performed decently, reaching the round of 64 in its only season.
Team captain James Price talked about returning for future seasons, but he never returned to BattleBots as a captain before it was cancelled by Comedy Central.[2]

The Little Engine That Killed vs. Little Wicked (Forfeit) The Little Engine That Killed was originally going to fight Little Wicked, but Little Wicked was unable to get its pneumatic system through safety so Team Diablo decided to pull it from the competition.[3] This meant that The Little Engine That Killed won by default. |
The Little Engine That Killed vs. Afterburner Afterburner was The Little Engine That Killed's next opponent. After a few hits, Little Engine stopped Afterburner's spinner and pushed it up into the wall. It pinned Afterburner there, and stayed on it, pushing it around and not letting it spin up, for most of the match. Just near the end Afterburner got away and spun up. Little Engine didn't approach it and try to stop it again, but that turned out to be a good idea. Afterburner got unstable and did a little dance, not flipping over but losing a chance to take another run at Little Engine and try to make a comeback. The judges gave most of the points for aggression to Little Engine, and most of the damage ones to Afterburner, splitting strategy in Little Engines favor, won a 24-21 decision and advanced to final preliminary round, where it faced Scrap Daddy Surplus. |
The Little Engine That Killed vs. Scrap Daddy Surplus The Little Engine That Killed was able to shove Scrap Daddy Surplus around for the better part of the match. However, in the last 15 seconds of the match, a gearbox gave out and started smoking. This gave Scrap Daddy Surplus a 26-19 judges' decision and The Little Engine That Killed was eliminated from the tournament.[3] |
