The Tech4Kids toy range was a short-lived BattleBots line of toys released in 2017, and was advertized as an "R/C construct and combat kit".
Each toy was packed in an array of pieces which could be slotted together thanks to interlocking pieces that would click into place, similar to the VEX Robotics line of construction kits. Unlike these, however, the Tech4Kids line features controllers, meaning they can be played with as remote control toys once built. Each toy features a "kill switch", which allows for each robot to be knocked out during play. These are located at the rear end of each robot and are hidden under a removable armor piece.
The toys are advertized as featuring tank steering, though the Tech4Kids toys have been criticized for their lacklustre power and how difficult they can be to drive. The toys are also directly geared, meaning they have a tendency to stall under load or stress.
Only four BattleBots competitors have ever been produced for this series of toys:
As well as being sold individually, the Tech4Kids toys were also seen in two-packs, similar again to HEXBUG Rivals sets. Both chosen to reflect real-life BattleBots matches the toys' respective robots had, these were:
- Tombstone vs. Bronco
- Minotaur vs. Blacksmith
Though the Tech4Kids series of BattleBots toys has not been confirmed to be discontinued, the four releases are no longer available on the BattleBots store, and have increased in rarity and value as a result, but can still be located elsewhere.
