Team Special Delivery, formerly known as Team Late Night Racing, are an active team who debuted in BattleBots World Championship III. They are best known for their heavyweight entry Free Shipping. The team are captained by Gary Gin, who has fought for over a decade at RoboGames and other live events. Though the name changed to Team Special Delivery as Free Shipping debuted in World Championship III, the Team Late Night Racing name is still used for non-BattleBots events.

At BattleBots, the team's best success came during BattleBots: Champions II, where Free Shipping won its Sin City Slugfest bracket and qualified for the Golden Bolt tournament.

Outside BattleBots[]

Away from the show, Gary Gin's team are best known for their 220lb heavyweight, Original Sin, which Gin has driven since 2006. A four-wheel drive wedgebot, Original Sin has amassed over 75 competitive wins despite lacking a destructive weapon, boasting a record seven RoboGames Gold Medals and three consecutive Combots Cup wins where it finished runner-up in its other three appearances.

Original Sin was inducted into the Robot Combat Hall of Fame in 2015 in recognition of its success. As Team Late Night Racing, Gary Gin also entered The Big B and middleweight 247 into ROBOlympics 2004 and featherweight Anything into RoboGames 2005 respectively, but with mixed success.

Returning for RoboGames 2023, Original Sin lost its opening fight to White Rabbit, before returning to winning ways against Bullion and Lay-Z-Bot. It then fought Ziggy Jr., where it lost by knockout and was ultimately eliminated.

At RoboGames 2024, Original Sin received a Round 1 bye but met defending champion Manta in Round 2. It lost this fight by knockout and was relegated to the loser's bracket. Original Sin took out Swamp Thing, Warthog and Puck in quick succession but was eliminated at the hands of Terrortops.

Gary Gin[]

A staple of the US live scene, Gary Gin's BattleBots career began with his Comedy Central era entry The Big B as part of Team Late Night Racing, with which he finished lightweight runner-up in Season 4.0, but was eliminated prematurely a year later. He is the captain and designated driver of Free Shipping.

Gary became interested in combat robotics in the late 1990s, attempting to form a team for the ill-fated 1998 US Robot Wars event in San Francisco.[1] With a background in RC cars, he then watched the BattleBots television show on Comedy Central in 2000 and decided to form Team Late Night Racing in 2001. He returned to drive for TKO Robotics and Lucky during World Championship II, before debuting Free Shipping a season later.

Jim & Forrest Yeh[]

Father and son pairing Jim and Forrest Yeh are best known for competing in RoboGames as Team Robomaster.

Jim and Forrest Yeh entered RoboGames 2023 with their iconic heavyweight Ragin Scotsman, defeating Rick Russ' Piranha in the opening round before defeating Khaos 3 in the second round. However, it suffered its first loss to Cataclysm after losing three of its four tires, and followed this up with a loss by forfeit to eventual champions Manta. Their middleweight Who's Your Daddy Now? lost to The Mortician in Round 1, but defeated General in the loser's bracket. It then beat a heavily-damaged Wolverine on a 18-15 judges' decision before losing to BMF, confirming its elimination.

The Yehs enjoyed a deep run in RoboGames 2024 with two of their robots. Ragin Scotsman first took out Swamp Thing by knockout before getting the better of Ziggy Jr. in Round 2 of the winner's bracket. After bettering Mandamus in Round 3, Ragin Scotsman eventually lost to Magnitude, but wins over Ziggy Jr. and BlackJack secured its place in the loser's bracket final. After Team Wazio were forced to withdraw, Ragin Scotsman avoided a rematch against Magnitude and received a bye to the heavyweight final. It faced defending champion Manta and lost by knockout to secure a second place finish. Who's Your Daddy Now? began the middleweight division with a bye to Round 2, where it defeated a rebuilt Wolverine. It then lost to Mortician and fell into the loser's bracket, but immediately bounced back against Budget Bot 2 to advance to the finals. Who's Your Daddy Now? earned a rematch against Mortician and took Ray Billings' middleweight the distance, but lost out by judges' decision to also finish second in its division. 60lb entry Come to Mama earned a surprise win over Team Uai!rrior's Federal M.T. in Round 1 before losing to Torment Nexus. After receiving a bye through Round 1 of the loser's bracket, Come to Mama fell to the returning Herr Gepoünden and was eliminated at this stage.
