Team Mechanicus are a retired BattleBots team which entered numerous competitions with robots in various weight divisions.

Best known for their superheavyweight hammerbot The Judge, Team Mechanicus originally competed with Juggernaut during the 1999 Long Beach event and in Season 5.0 and the 2004 NPC Charity Open with The Prosecutor. Though none of Team Mechanicus' robots achieved Giant Nut-winning success, The Judge especially became an instant crowd favorite due to the power of its gavel-like hammer. The Judge's weapon often prompted the live audience to shout 'Guilty!' as the hammer made contact with an opponent or the arena floor. The Judge notably won the Season 4.0 Royal Rumble in its weight class by crowd vote.

In 2005, their flagship superheavyweight was inducted into the Combat Robot Hall of Fame.

Outside BattleBots[]

The team also fought in numerous US live events with The Judge, notably winning gold at the 2004 ROBOlympics event, which was later renamed RoboGames. The Judge was retired after winning silver in the 2007 RoboGames superheavyweight division.

Jascha Little would later join The Machine Corps and Chomp, leading the robot's redesign as it swapped its crushing jaw for an overhead hammer weapon. He and Zoe Stephenson welcomed their first child in January 2021, with team captain Zoe pregnant throughout filming of World Championship V.
