The team returned for the revived seasons on Discovery with Beta. Although Beta itself attended the ABC seasons too, it did so under Team Robo Challenge. Beta entered future seasons under the Team Hurtz name.

Team Members[]

John Reid WCVII

John Reid[]

Team Hurtz captain John Reid is one of the most experienced British competitors still actively competing, first building and driving KillerHurtz in 1999.

He has since fought in the United Kingdom, United States and China with mixed success, finishing fourth overall in Series 6 of Robot Wars with Terrorhurtz. Reid won the Best Driver Award following the conclusion of the first ever BattleBots event in Long Beach in 1999.

Gabriel Stroud Team Hurtz

Gabriel Stroud & Alan Cannon[]

Al Cannon Team Hurtz

Gabriel Stroud and Alan Cannon joined Team Hurtz ahead of Beta's return in 2020. Both were unsuccessful in competing in World Championship VI with Sabretooth, the most recent rendition of Stroud's own team's heavyweight of over 20 years to date. It is unknown if the pair planned to rejoin Team Hurtz if Beta had been able to compete.

Previously, Gabriel Stroud accompanied Team Black and Blue with DUCK! during the 2019 BattleBots competition.

Both team members accompanied John Reid for the team's entry for Chinese show King of Bots, Tánshè.

Jason Marston Team Hurtz

Jason Marston[]

A new addition to Team Hurtz in 2022, Jason Marston has over 20 years of experience in combat robots. He is best known for his Robot Wars entry Thor, which fought in five series of the show, finishing fourth overall in Series 8.

He has also competed in China with Thor in different guises, entering King of Bots as Warrior and Clash Bots as AU Thumper. Thor has been a staple of UK live events since the initial cancellation of Robot Wars, and still competes to this day.

Dominic Parkinson[]

Long term friend and teammate of John Reid, Dominic Parkinson was present for Beta's failed Season 5.0 campaign, but did not return ahead of the show's revival in 2015. He was involved with Team Hurtz on Robot Wars, where his Czech heritage allowed KillerHurtz to represent the Czech Republic in the First World Championship special.

George Francis[]

One of the UK's most decorated builders, boasting back-to-back Robot Wars championships piloting Chaos 2, George Francis attempted to build a robot called Quasar for Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.[1] He was unable to finish it due to time and financial reasons, and instead joined Team Hurtz ahead of Beta's intended debut.

Ian Lewis[]

Much like George Francis, Ian Lewis is an established competitor in his own right, Ian Lewis joined Team Hurtz having previously competed in the 1999 BattleBots events with Razer. He took Razer to a UK Robot Wars title during Series 5, having already won an array of competition wins up to that point. He was also a guest judge for the first series of Chinese show King of Bots.

Gillie Blood[]

Partner to Ian Lewis, Gillie Blood also joined Team Hurtz prior to Warhead's debut in Season 5.0 on Comedy Central. Outside of BattleBots, she competed in Robot Wars as part of Widow's Revenge, forming a staged rivalry as the partners of Team Razer, who she later competed with in Series 8 of the UK show. Having since married Ian, she also returned for the 2015 season on ABC.

Rebecca Reaston-Brown[]

Present with the team as they competed in the US with KillerHurtz, she also formed part of Team Hurtz in the UK during Robot Wars.

Robert Kennett, Iona Foster & Miranda Parkinson[]

All part of the team during KillerHurtz's Comedy Central appearances, their roles within the team are unknown. None returned to the team when Beta applied for World Championship I, though it is unknown if they appeared during the Long Beach and Las Vegas 1999 competitions.
