Tazbot was one of six BattleBots competitors released as part of the Metal Mechanics line of construction kits released by Jakks Pacific in 2001.

It was based on the Season 2.0 iteration of Donald Hutson's heavyweight machine, reflected by the frame-like construction at the back of its turret head. The toy features unpowered wheels which screw in place, as well as a brushed motor powers its arm to lift up and down once two AA batteries are inserted.

The kit sealed in its packaging.

While Tazbot's iconic turret mechanism is not powered, it can rotate freely once the kit has been fully constructed. The turret and wedges surrounding the robot are largely made from plastic, but its armor panels are made from metal.

As was the case with other Metal Mechanics sets, this comes with a screwdriver/wrench tool known as 'Techno-tools' as well as screws and a detailed instructions sheet. Also included are team and sponsor logos which give Tazbot an authentic look.

The kit was originally available to buy for $16.00 on the BattleBots website, as well as being stocked in various department stores.
