Sublime was a lightweight robot built by Team Duct Tape which competed in three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.

It was a four-wheel drive robot armed with a lifting arm which could hoist an opponent, as well as a grabbing claw. Sublime was redesigned as a horizontal bar spinner, but was redesigned after Miles decided it was too close in design to 100% Y.A.W.N.[1] Sublime performed decently, winning five of its eight fights, and also won the first Consolation Rumble during Season 2.0 in its second incarnation as well as reaching the television rounds in Season 5.0.

Outside BattleBots[]

The original Sublime and Sublime 4 did not compete in BattleBots. Sublime was eventually rebuilt, with a flamethrower added, and renamed Hot Stuff. It still competes in this form today.

Sublime's first ever match was against HammerHead. HammerHead and Sublime II moved swiftly around the arena, colliding into each other several times. HammerHead got caught on the killsaws several times, as did Sublime II, who lost the lower part of its weapon from the killsaws. HammerHead repeatedly rammed Sublime II, hard enough for a wheel to fall off on one charge. Sublime II was still moving in the end but HammerHead won on a 45-0 judges' decision.

Lightweight Consolation Rumble

Sublime returned for the Lightweight Consolation Rumble at the end of the tournament. Sublime and Serial Box Killer were declared the victors, and both advanced to the Royal Rumble.

Lightweight Royal Rumble

Sublime was flipped early into the rumble and played no further part. Due to this, Sublime lost overall to HammerHead.

Season 3.0[]

Sublime vs. Whirl Wep X25

Due to previously competing in Season 2.0, Sublime was allowed to skip the preliminary rounds of Season 3.0, where it eventually fought Whirl Wep X25. Sublime won on a close 23-22 judges' decision and continued on.

Sublime vs. Sallad

Now in the Round of 16, Sublime fought Sallad. However, Sallad won by KO and Sublime was eliminated from the tournament.

Lightweight Royal Rumble

Sublime again participated the Lightweight Royal Rumble at the end of the tournament. It stopped moving early on in the rumble and lost overall to Ziggo.

Season 5.0[]

Sublime vs. Das Bot

Sublime flips Das Bot.

Sublime flips Das Bot.

Sublime's fight in Season 5.0 was against Das Bot. Sublime was lifted early on by Das Bot, but was eventually able to get underneath and overturn Das Bot. Das Bot was able to self-right, but Sublime still won the fight on a 28-17 judges' decision.

Sublime vs. Wedge-O-Matic

Next up for Sublime was Wedge-O-Matic. Sublime won on a 32-13 judges' decision and advanced to the final preliminary round.

Sublime vs. Robo Master

Sublime now took on Robo Master, operated by Jim and Forrest Yeh. Sublime won on a 30-15 judges' decision and advanced to the TV rounds.

Sublime vs. SnowFlake

Sublime knocks out SnowFlake.

In its first televised battle, Sublime fought Team Toad and SnowFlake. Sublime took advantage of the long spikes added to the front of SnowFlake. Sublime tipped SnowFlake on its side where it was perfectly balanced, immobilizing SnowFlake. Sublime won by KO and advanced to the Round of 32.

Sublime vs. Death By Monkeys

Death By Monkeys pushes the now smoking Sublime.

Death By Monkeys pushes the now smoking Sublime.

Sublime now faced Death By Monkeys and was immediately rammed Death By Monkeys, but the two then avoided each other until it was rammed Death By Monkeys again. Sublime slammed into the wall while Death by Monkeys drove into the center of the arena before Sublime rammed into Death By Monkeys in an attempt to lift its opponent. The lift attempt failed and Sublime was slammed across the arena, while attempting another lift, and into the screws by Death By Monkeys. Sublime had started smoking and was pushed by the pulverizer before Death By Monkeys drove into the spikestrip. Sublime took advantage of Death By Monkeys' upward facing spikes and slammed it into the wall. Sublime drove away and got sent flying into the opposite wall by the killsaws, resulting in Sublime losing a panel. Sublime was spinning in circles after this. Sublime was caught and pushed in circles before the two was hit by the killsaws. The two avoided each other until Sublime got in and hit Death By Monkeys but Sublime was caught by the killsaws again. Sublime struck Death By Monkeys before getting into a pushing match. Unfortunately for Sublime, the lifting spikes of Death By Monkeys lowered after the two separated. Death By Monkeys got underneath Sublime once again, causing Sublime to start smoking again. The two bots clashed head on with Sublime getting shoved into the killsaws by Death By Monkeys again. The fight ended with Sublime getting pushed into the screws by Death By Monkeys. Death By Monkeys won on a 30-15 judges' decision and Sublime was eliminated from the tournament.[2]
"I was actually hoping to face DBM before the tournament even happened. This was because DBM is pretty much the bar for pushing power and speed in the LW class and I wanted to see how Sublime would match up. From what I could tell, we were pretty even on just about everything until I took that lovely killsaw toss which shattered the magnets in one of my dewalts. If you watch carefully, you can actually see Sublime was much slower on one side from that point on. The shattered Dewalt continued to function for a while, but It eventually started to smoke and draw mega amounts of current. This melted the wires coming from the output of the Victor driving that side and I lost the whole side (The Victor survived the high current draw like a champ though. Those speed controllers are rock solid!). All in all I thought this was a good match, My only regret is How damaged Sublime was coming into this match, It had fought four times already, three of the matches going the full two minutes of the prelims and I didn't design Sublime well enough to last that many matches. I hope I can fix that for the next tourney ;-)"
— Jerome Miles' account of Sublime's fight against Death By Monkeys
