The South Bay RoboWarriors, or the Tilford family were a prominent team throughout the Comedy Central’s Battlebots. They are most well known for their unpredictable and wild portrayal on television and building all versions of Mauler.

The South Bay RoboWarriors and The South Bay Mauler debuted at the original 1994 Robot Wars event with considerable success, which would remain for the rest of both the team and Maulers time on the original Robot Wars.

Shortly before the first Battlebots event was hosted, the team as well as Mauler would travel to the U.K to enter Series 3 of Robot Wars, however would be deemed too hazardous for the arena and would be forced to withdraw from the competition.

Though the team would not compete at Las Vegas 1999 for unknown reasons, they along with their robot would earn reputation of being unpredictable yet deadly, ultimately climaxing with the birth of “Pulling a Mauler” during Mauler 51-50s match against Bigger Brother in Season 2.0.

Unfortunately for the team, Mauler would begin to fall obselete, losing their seeding in 3.0 as well as building M2KO2, which would go on to have little success.

After Battlebots, The team would continue to compete with both Mauler, now renamed Hellfire 666 as well as M2KO2, now renamed Mauler 2003. By this point, however, Mauler had fallen significantly behind and would eventually retire in 2003.

Team Toad also built a mini mauler in 2002, with permission from the Tilfords. Mini Mauler would go on to have an average career before being retired.

In 2018, Ray Scully gained ownership of one of Maulers lids. While not confirmed, Mauler is still presumably under ownership of one of the Tilfords.
