It was a disc-shaped, shell spinner with teeth attached to the outside. Though Shrapnel enjoyed limited success during its only competition, the team would win the end-of-season award for Best Documentation in the High School division.
In the 120lb High School division, Shrapnel took on wedgebot War Fe. Shrapnel had some problems driving straight and powering up its weapon while War Fe caught one of the gaps in between the BattleBox floor panels. Shrapnel briefly drove up the side of its wedge at an angle, though War Fe was stuck in the middle of the arena for several seconds before reversing away. War Fe then got underneath Shrapnel, but could not push its opponent back before it escaped. As the match went on, War Fe kept catching the floor gaps while frequently struggling to assert itself against Shrapnel. On a few occasions, Shrapnel rammed and pushed it from the sides and rear, though War Fe still got underneath and pursued it across the BattleBox in spite of its clearance issues. Shrapnel was not able to spin up at any point of the match. The match elapsed and both competitors were stuck together with War Fe's wedge prying Shrapnel off the floor. Shrapnel won this fight according to team member Michael Cleary.[1]
Shrapnel vs. Fluffy DeLarge
Shrapnel's shell is torn away.
Its next opponent was Fluffy DeLarge, a wide drum spinner. Shrapnel stayed in its starting position to slowly spin up. Once it drove away from the square, it was knocked away by the drum spinner. The full-body spinner stumbled and got struck by the spinner again. Fluffy DeLarge gave the finishing blow to Shrapnel, ripping off the shell and immobilizing it.
