Scuttle was a heavyweight robot from Team NovaRobots, which was designed with the intention of competing in BattleBots World Championship II.
Designed by James Iocca and Jay Zola, who competed in Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots with heavyweight Golem, Scuttle was a very different robot. Scuttle was octagonal-shaped robot and boasted unique omni-wheel drive, similar to that of Bots FC's heavyweight entry Shatter!. However, unlike Shatter!, Scuttle only had three wheels. For weaponry, it was armed with a front-mounted drum spinner and a small feeder wedge, though little else is known about the robot. Scuttle's name likely derived from its unique method of locomotion. Overall Scuttle's drive and weapon were very similar to World Championship VII competitor Ominous.
Team NovaRobots applied for the 2016 season of BattleBots, but was ultimately rejected for unknown reasons. It is also unknown whether Scuttle applied for future seasons, but team member James Iocca joined Al Kindle and Blacksmith from the 2019 season onwards.
Outside BattleBots[]
Outside of BattleBots, team member Nate Franklin is an established competitor with lower weight class robots Slim Pickens and Thunder Child, having won Motorama Robot Conflict events. Thunder Child finished runner-up in the second series of UK web series Bugglebots as the competition's sole American representative. He also assisted with fellow Bugglebots competitor Captain Doom in the first season, driven by Tyler Nguyen.
