Ronin was one of nine BattleBots competitors produced by Jakks Pacific in 2001 as part of their Battle Bashers line of toys.
The toy was based on the Season 2.0 build of Pete Abrahamson's iconic robot, evident by its vertical spinning disk and sponsor decals across the sides of its tread pods. The treads, however, were molded into the toy's body as small wheels were hidden to drive it instead. They were connected by a metal rod which also held the friction motor. The disk weapon was driven by a small O-ring stretched from one pulley to another mounted to the side of the blade. Ronin's three samurai flags were removable.
As with other toys in the range, Ronin had a trigger button which, when activated, would 'explode' the robot. In Ronin's case, its central module would twist away from its treads.
Ronin was replaced for the Third Edition release by Bad Attitude.
