Rocky Balbota was a superheavyweight robot which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was an invertible, box-shaped robot with no active weapon and painted in the colors of the American flag. According to the team, it featured custom-made wheels and powerful drive motors offering in excess of 22HP.

This patriotic theme was enhanced by the team's attire, which also featured the stars and stripes. The name is a pun of fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. The robot did not perform well in competition, losing its first match to Jaws of Death. Neither Rocky Balbota nor its team returned to BattleBots after Season 4.0.

Robot History

Season 4.0

Rocky Balbota vs. Jaws of Death Rocky Bolbota's first and only match in BattleBots was against Jaws of Death. Both Jaws of Death and Rocky Balbota had a hard time steering, but Rocky Balbota eventually managed to ram into Jaws of Death and breaks off a panel from it. Rocky Balbota was winning the match until it accidentally rammed into the spikestrip, got impaled and it was now unable to break free. Jaws of Death came over and gave Rocky Balbota a few good clamps from its jaws, putting some holes in its sides, as it was counted out. Jaws of Death won the match by knockout and Rocky Balbota was eliminated from the tournament.

• A similarly designed robot named Rocky-Bot-Boa also entered Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors, but shares no relation to John Huemme's BattleBots superheavyweight.
