Robert "Safety Rob" Bahr is an American engineer who has worked with BattleBots since World Championship IV. Originally part of the safety inspection team, he would later become head of safety and robot operations manager for the live show, BattleBots: Destruct-A-Thon in September 2022.
As safety inspector, he would thoroughly assess competing robots before and after fights, ensuring they work in line with the show's design rules. This can range from pre-tournament weigh ins and failsafing to making sure robots are inactive when not in the BattleBox and ensuring spinning weapons are able to spin down in adequate time. Many of these inspections are done in the Test Box.
Due to the nature of his roles, he is rarely seen on camera. However, Bahr made an appearance in The Pits during a BattleBots video produced by the YouTube content creator group AMP.[1]
In December 2023, Bahr was interviewed as part of a video by CellBlock FCS as they became an official battery safety partner of BattleBots.[2]

Los Angeles-based Robert Bahr previously worked as a maintenance technician for Amazon, and a project engineer and production technician for the California-based robotics company Giant.AI. He has also worked as a mechanical engineer and spent almost a decade in electrical and mechanical roles for the technology studio Applied Minds.
