Ramrods are a long-standing BattleBox hazard which have undergone several iterations since their introduction in Season 1.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.

Comedy Central[]

Ramrods Season 5

The red Ramrods in action during Season 5.0.

Initially, the ramrods were sets of six, fast-acting spikes concealed within the floor, which would fire upwards in a similar fashion to the Killsaws. However, the spikes did minimal damage and often served to disrupt a robot's attack or attempt to escape an opponent. Occasionally, a robot using an overhead weapon such as an axe could get its arm or head stuck in the holes where the spikes were housed.

For the first three seasons, the ramrods were marked by a bright yellow rectangle across both sets of three spikes. In Season 3.0, the Ramrods were one of the hazards to receive upgrades, boasting brand new motors to make them five times more powerful than before.

For Season 4.0, the pattern indicating their presence was changed to red and yellow squares outlining for each individual spike. While the six spikes remained, the design around them now resembled a grid-like pattern. The Ramrods remained this way until the cancelation of BattleBots on Comedy Central after Season 5.0.

World Championship I-Present[]

A BattleBots returned in 2015 on ABC, as did the ramrods. Spaced out across the BattleBox were individual ramrods outlined in yellow, some blunt and others sharp, which would rise from the floor. However, they played a much smaller role than before and were rarely seen in action as they would often fire randomly.

Ghost Raptor vs. Bite Force[]

In Ghost Raptor's Season 1 fight against Bite Force, the ramrods fired as Team Raptor's bot was driven across the BattleBox and across the extended spike, causing minor damage to the underside of Ghost Raptor.

The ramrods played little part in the match outside of this, and Paul Ventimiglia's Bite Force ultimately took the win by knockout en route to their first of three Giant Nut wins.
