Prompt Critical was a superheavyweight (formerly heavyweight) robot built by Ken and Chuck Russell of Team Prompt Critical and competed in Season 1.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was set to enter the Long Beach event in 1999, evidenced its inclusion on the fan brochure handed out at the event, but withdrew.

It was a large six-wheeled build armed with a rotating turret similar to Robot Wars competitor Evolution. For Season 1.0, Prompt Critical sported a black and red camouflage aesthetic in its only BattleBots appearances. Prompt Critical stalled out in its first match against Mechadon, but managed to return for the Superheavyweight Royal Rumble.

Ken Russell would later build the demonstration robot Russell's Paradigm.

Robot History

Season 1.0
Prompt Critical vs. Mechadon Mechadon moves slowly towards Prompt Critical. Prompt Critical's first and only match was against the walkerbot Mechadon. In this match, Prompt Critical was spinning its blade and it broke down immediately before Mechadon could even move out of its square. Mechadon won the match by KO at 1:55 and Prompt Critical was eliminated from the tournament.
Superheavyweight Royal Rumble Prompt Critical stuck against the spikestrip. Prompt Critical also participated in the superheavyweight rumble at the end of the tournament. It started out well as it immobilized Ginsu with its spinning axe. After getting hit by the axe of Grendel, Prompt Critical backed up and started spinning its blade. It moved to the center of the BattleBox and after hitting Diesector with its spinning axe, Minion got underneath Prompt Critical and pushed it against the spikestrip. Prompt Critical was stuck against the spikestrip and Minion pushed Ronin against the immobile Prompt Critical soon after. The time ran out and Minion was declared the winner of the Superheavyweight Royal Rumble.
