Pro-Pain was a middleweight robot built by Mutant Robots which competed exclusively in the private BattleBots Cisco Party in 2006.

It was a two-part multibot driven by Donald Hutson and an unconfirmed second team member. The main robot was a two-wheel drive robot armed with front grabbing and lifting jaws and a flamethrower. Like the team's other robots, Tazbot, Karcas 2 and Easty Beast, the weaponized half of Pro-Pain sported cambered drive wheels. The other part of Pro-Pain consisted of a four-wheel drive, invertible robot with a wide, curved plow at the front. The entire chassis was painted black, with its drive motors and wheels exposed. Pro-Pain's name was a spin on the word 'propane', referencing the main robot's flamethrower weaponry.

The only BattleBots competition Pro-Pain fought in was the 2006 Cisco Party, where it lost in destructive fashion in its first round fight against eventual runner-up, Icewave.

Outside BattleBots[]

Prior to the Cisco event, the main half of Pro-Pain competed as a lightweight at various US events. It sported a yellow and orange guise at Bot Bash 2 in 2004.

Cisco Party 2006[]

Pro-Pain vs Icewave

Pro-Pain's first BattleBots fight came against a former BattleBots IQ champion in Icewave. Pre-fight, Icewave was allowed to spin up to speed and Pro-Pain tested its flamethrower.

Icewave destroys one half of Pro-Pain.

The four-wheel drive half of Pro-Pain gingerly approached as Icewave's blade grazed the front of its plow. However, as soon as Icewave got a bite, it propelled the robot across the BattleBox, taking off both right-side wheels as it lay immobile in the blue square.

The main half of Pro-Pain is immobilized.

As only the main half of Pro-Pain remained, Icewave was smothered in the red square, halting its blade momentarily as Donald Hutson's bot spewed flame over the internal combustion engine of Marc DeVidts' robot. Icewave immediately got back up to speed, slamming into the side of Pro-Pain as the horizontal spinner became unbalanced, but landed on all four wheels. Icewave approached and tore into Pro-Pain's hydraulic ram, forcing its weapon to open. The follow-up shot threw Pro-Pain across the arena and ripped a tire off, before tearing its weapon away. With both halves of Pro-Pain immobile in the blue square, Icewave returned to the center of the arena as John Remar issued a count-out.

Pro-Pain's elimination was confirmed by the event's host, Michael Meehan, and it did not fight again in the competition.
