Paydar was a robot that competed in the superheavyweight division Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was built by thirteen college seniors from IUPUI over the course of one school semester. It was armed with ramming spikes and a front wedge. Paydar had a unique steering system, using two rear wheels for drive and a third, center wheel for steering. A similarly designed pod would be used later by Triple Crown. It lost its only match during the season.
A middleweight robot was designed and built by the same team for an anticipated Season 6.0.[1] However, the details of this design are unknown and the show was cancelled before it could compete.

Outside BattleBots[]
After BattleBots ended, Paydar competed in Mechwars 6, where it also had no success, losing 4 fights and finishing last out of 5 superheavyweight robots in the competition. There was a competition held amongst staff and students at IUPUI to rename and repaint Paydar in 2004.[2] The results of this as well as if they were ever implemented are unknown at this time. It was retired after its Mechwars appearance.
