Introduced for the revival of BattleBots in 2015, the Paddles (also known as Arena Bumpers and Flippers) are long, spiked strips of wall which are pneumatically powered. Designed to feed robots into the Pulverizers in each corner, they operate in a similar way to flippers on a pinball table.

Despite featuring in a number of seasons in the modern era of BattleBots, they are a rarely-seen hazard with robots often able to shove opponents into other BattleBox hazards without their assistance.

Notable Uses[]

Tantrum lucky 2

Tantrum is stuck atop the Paddle.

In Episode 2 of World Championship III, when Petunia got a hold of ROTATOR and tried to pierce into its weapon, one of the Paddles tried to swat both robots away and free them.

Deep Six stuck

Deep Six hooked on one of the Paddles.

During the 2021 Fight Night season, Lucky's early assault on Tantrum saw the latter stuck on top of one of the Paddles and briefly high-centered. Though it did not fire, Tantrum was later free to continue the battle.

Later in the same season, Minotaur and Deep Six collided, throwing Deep Six into the wall and seeing it land with its 80lb weapon bar hooked behind the Paddle. Despite the BattleBox hazard's best attempt to shake Deep Six free, it was ultimately counted out.

Deathroll KO Paddle Champs II

DeathRoll immobilized behind a Paddle.

During the third Sin City Slugfest bracket of BattleBots: Champions II, Australian representative DeathRoll ultimately became immobilized behind one of the Paddles as it was overturned by Gigabyte and lacked the space to self-right.
