Overbearing was a heavyweight robot built by Team Mongoose which competed in two seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was an octagonal-shaped robot armed with a 55lb toothed spinning ring which could hit speeds of 500rpm. It did not perform well in competition, winning only one match in Season 4.0 and losing its only fight in Season 5.0. Overbearing was designed and built by three college students for their senior project, and its name likely referenced the bearings used in its weapon mechanism.
The team behind Overbearing also built Little Black Box for the 2004 NPC Charity event. Overbearing was also supposed to be revamped for said event, featuring a 10hp weapon motor originally used to start tanks and titanium armor, but it was not completed in time.

Overbearing vs. Interceptor Overbearing's first match was against Interceptor. In this match, Overbearing dealt some serious damage to Interceptor's drive train and won by knockout in under two minutes. |
Overbearing vs. Sledge-Jammer (Forfeit) This win put Overbearing to the next preliminary round, where it faced Sledge-Jammer. However, some damage to Overbearing's drive caused a short which made one of its drive controllers catch fire after its victory against Interceptor. Due to this technical problem, the team was forced to forfeit and Sledge-Jammer won the fight by default. This meant that Overbearing was eliminated from the tournament. |

Overbearing vs. Chewbot  Chewbot tears into Overbearing. Overbearing's only match in Season 5.0 was against Chewbot. Chewbot's weapon was the perfect height to cut into Overbearing's chassis, and so the robot was nearly chopped in half lengthwise. This destructive fight ended with Overbearing being knocked out and eliminated from the competition. |
