ORBY Blade

CAD of ORBY Blade's initial third design.

ORBY Blade

ORBY Blade as it appeared in King of Bots II.

ORBY Blade was a heavyweight competitor robot entered by Team ORBY from South Korea originally set to compete in the fifth season of the BattleBots reboot on Discovery and Science. It is a four-wheel driven, electric yellow bot armed with a huge and heavy horizontal bar spinner, which can be switched between three other bars depending on the match. This setup gives it a very similar look to Bombshell's horizontal bar spinner configuration. It is also equipped with a self-righting arm on the top section of the robot in the event of getting flipped. It also has a rear wedge to deflect blows and push other bots around, as well as a minibot called ORBY Wedge for certain purposes.

The name of the bot itself is called Blade V3, but it is uncertain if BattleBots will use its name entered, or the name used in China.

ORBY Blade competed in the Chinese show King of Bots/This is Fighting Robots, where it was often mocked as a joke at points. While the bar was mean and powerful to deal massive damage, tough match-ups in both seasons and a broken self-righter in Season 2 led it to not be the most threatening.

Unfortunately, ORBY Blade will not be competing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, along with travel restrictions, but the team said they hope to enter Season 6 in 2021.

Trivia

  • If it qualifies for a later season, ORBY Blade could potentially be the first South Korean bot to compete in BattleBots.
  • A few people often refer to ORBY Blade as the "Korean Tombstone" due to the bar's size, weight, and power.
