Not Scott is a 15lb robot which competed in BattleBots: Metal Mayhem - a high school and college competition held as part of SXSW 2024.

It is a two-wheel drive, invertible robot armed with a front-mounted horizontal bar spinner. The robot was built with support from Placer Advanced Robotics and Technology. PART, also known as Placer Robotics, is a non-profit organization specializing in combat robotics. The organization supported five robots for the March 2024 event, including The Dishwasher, The Executioner, Lunar Eclipse and Slightly Above Average, though the latter would ultimately not compete.[1] A pre-existing build, Not Scott was drafted in to replace Slightly Above Average.

Outside BattleBots[]

Not Scott is a renamed version of the team's competitor Scott, which fought at numerous US live events including NRL Sacramento 2020 and Sacramento Bot Battles 2022.

Featuring a purple and gold color scheme and its name adorning the top panel, Not Scott fought in the 2023 Sacramento Bot Battles event, where it is known to have defeated another robot called Rufus by knockout.[2] It suffered a loss before beating ReConstruct[3] and then losing out to Free Hugs.[4]

According to the Placer Robotics website, Scott placed second at the sixth SparkleCon Smash event in 2019.[5]

15lb Rumble

SXSW 2024 Rumble

Not Scott stuck on the wall during the rumble.

Returning for the end-of-competition rumble, Not Scott fought alongside Desserts, Horns of Fury and Competitive Pricing. Due to a damaged weapon motor, Not-Scott's team locked the weapon in place and adopted a sit-and-spin approach as both Competitive Pricing and Desserts became immobile. Horns of Fury's weapon continued running throughout, meaning although Not Scott survived to the end of the rumble, the Texas-based team were declared the winners by judges' decision.
