Mr. Plow was the name given to a series of middleweight robots built by John Hersey High School students for BattleBots and BotsIQ-sanctioned events between 2003 and 2009.
The earliest documented appearance by the robot was at the 2005 BattleBots IQ Championships, achieving an even 2-2 fight record in the High School Large Class (120lb) division.[4] Mr. Plow would return for the 2006 iteration with a design featuring a four-wheel drive system and a large front plow. Though no information on this incarnation's performance in the main competitions is available, it would win a Rumble match over The Blender despite getting stranded over a piece of debris partway through.[5]
Mr. Plow would continue to attend the rebranded BotsIQ events for years to come, beginning with the 2007 National competitions, where it adopted a tall, invertible two-wheel drive design with front and rear wedges. This incarnation was known to have fought at least one battle against E2V2, but its overall performance in the competition remains unknown.[6] The Builders Database also confirms Mr. Plow as an entrant for the subsequent 2008 competition, though again, information on its matches from the event remains scarce.[7]
Another incarnation of the robot, Mr. Plow IIX, competed in the 2009 BattleBots High School Championship as one of three John Hersey High School entries alongside Fargo and Not ready quite yet!! The Builders Database suggests that this incarnation did not feature any weapons, though this is yet to be confirmed elsewhere.[3] Mr. Plow IIX began its 2009 campaign with a win over 2008 BotsIQ champion Copperhead 3.141592654, before being knocked into the Loser's Bracket by ODDQUADD. A run of four consecutive knockout victories followed, until Mr. Plow IIX was eliminated on a Judges' decision against Team Falcon's BABS. Thus, it completed a 5-2 record in its only known BattleBots event.[8][9]
The robot's name was inspired by The Simpsons episode of the same name; Mr. Plow being both the plow truck and snow clearing business run by Homer Simpson during this episode. A decal of Homer as Mr. Plow was present on the front wedge of the robot in its debut competition.

Mr. Plow vs. Ripster The only known fight for Mr. Plow was against Ripster. The two robots had very similar wedge shapes, resulting in neither one having a wedge advantage over the other one. This resulted in a pushing match that went to a judge's decision. The result of this decision is unknown.[10]

Mr. Plow vs. Majority Rules Having received a bye in the opening round of the winner's bracket, Mr. Plow's first match in the 2005 High School Large Class division put it up against Majority Rules. Very little information is available, but official BattleBots IQ event schedules suggest that it started in the red square and the match ended in a loss for the Arlington Heights machine.[4]

Mr. Plow vs. Killa Guerilla Mr. Plow's next opponent was Killa Guerilla. Again starting from the red square, it would pick up its second win of the division at this stage.[4]
Mr. Plow vs. X Mr. Plow would go on to face X in the fourth round of the Loser's Bracket, once more starting from the red square. Official event schedules suggest that it lost to X for unknown reasons, thus eliminating it from the High School Large Class division of the 2005 BattleBots IQ event.[4]

Rumble
Limited information is available concerning Mr. Plow's performance at the 2006 BattleBots IQ Championships. However, its presence at the event was confirmed by amateur footage of it taking part in a Rumble match against six other robots, one of which was Richardson High School's full-body spinner The Blender.

Mr. Plow vs. E2V2
Mr. Plow's only documented match from the 2007 BotsIQ Championships was against the 2006 High School Large Class champion E2V2. Starting from the red square, it was immediately scooped up and pushed into the spiked bumper by E2V2, as both robots rammed each other in the center of the BattleBox. Mr. Plow struggled to assert itself after E2V2 broke free, with E2V2 continuing to breach its ground clearance and ram it into the walls. At various points, it drove around the back of E2V2 and lifted it up using its wedge shape, and in a separate attack pushed E2V2 from the side towards the center. Both robots continued to ram and gently nudge each other towards the latter stages of the fight, where, after slamming into E2V2, Mr. Plow found itself in the corner opposite the red square and drove itself into the spiked bumper. This presented a chance for E2V2 to get underneath Mr. Plow again, before more rams and shoves were exchanged between the two wedged rambots. Mr. Plow again had its clearance frequently exploited during this stage, the match ending with it getting scooped up by E2V2 yet again. The match lasted the full three minutes, but E2V2 was declared the winner.[6]

High School Championship 2009[]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. Copperhead 3.141592654 The Mr. Plow series made its BattleBots debut in the 2009 High School Championship, with Mr. Plow IIX facing defending BotsIQ champion Copperhead 3.141592654 in the opening round of the Winner's Bracket. Very little information is available, but official records suggest that Mr. Plow IIX won by knockout after two minutes and 34 seconds, marking a strong start to its 2009 campaign.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. ODDQUADD This victory allowed Mr. Plow IIX to face ODDQUADD, one of two machines entered by Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School. However, this proved a more difficult matchup than the first, with both machines surviving the full three minutes and ODDQUADD winning the subsequent Judges' decision. Mr. Plow IIX was thus knocked into the Loser's Bracket.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. Rhoto For a chance to remain in the competition, Mr. Plow IIX needed to win its next match against the undercutter spinner of Rhoto. BattleBots event records suggest that Mr. Plow IIX not only survived the full three minutes along with Rhoto, but defeated it by knockout, allowing it to progress.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. SpiderPig Mr. Plow IIX then faced the Ransom Everglades team from Miami, Florida, and their eight-wheeled rambot SpiderPig. As with Rhoto, it survived the full three minutes and won the match by knockout according to official BattleBots records.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. Teenager Another weaponless rammer awaited Mr. Plow IIX in the fourth round of the Loser's Bracket, this being Teenager from Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart. Here, Mr. Plow IIX achieved its third knockout win in a row, defeating Teenager after only 47 seconds.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. The Piecemaker Mr. Plow IIX advanced to face The Gow School and their pneumatic flipper The Piecemaker. This proved to be its fourth-consecutive knockout victory, displacing The Piecemaker from the competition in a match lasting 59 seconds.[8][9]
Mr. Plow IIX vs. BABS Having achieved five wins up to this point, Mr. Plow IIX fought Team Falcon and their four-bar lifter BABS. On this occasion, both robots were documented to have lasted the full three minutes, but Mr. Plow IIX lost out on the subsequent Judges' decision. Thus, it was eliminated from the 2009 High School Championship with a strong 5-2 match record.[8][9] |
