The Mini Class, known more recently as Dogeweights, was the name given to BattleBots competitors which weighed up to 15lbs. The class was introduced in BattleBots IQ 2005 as a more accessible entry into BattleBots competition, and returned for the R3: Rochester Robot Rampage event later in the year.
- "The Mini Class Bots are designed to be less expensive to build and support than the Large Class Bots (and of course they're much easier to transport!). The Mini Class Bots use a separate and smaller combat arena than the Large Class Bots. The Minis also have some different design requirements and allowances than the Large bots, so there is a separate Mini Class Tech Regs document."
- — The Mini Class, introduced via the BattleBots IQ website on December 4, 2004[1]
The Mini Class became one of two main weight divisions in BattleBots IQ competitions in the years which followed, with middleweight robots weighing up to 120lbs being dubbed the Large Class. With much of BattleBots IQ considered lost media, several winners of the Mini Class are unknown.
Following the end of the last BattleBots IQ event, the 'Mini Class' name was largely discontinued. As such, the term Dogeweight was instead coined, named after the doge meme which became viral in 2013.
With the return of BotsIQ events in 2024, 15lb division was officially revived for BattleBots: Metal Mayhem. The March 2024 event was won by Franky.
