Mike the Bike (stylized miKEtHeBiKe)[1] was a heavyweight robot built by CrashAndRebuild which applied for BattleBots World Championship VI, but was not selected for the competition.
It was a two-wheel drive robot themed like an exercise bike which was armed with a large steel vertical spinning bar weighing 60lb and spinning at 250mph. The weapon design was similar to that of Uppercut. Its outer wheels allowed Mike the Bike to run both ways up, although there appears to be a decorative bike seat that could possibly prevent this from happening. Both the weapon and drive would have run on unspecified brushless motors.
The team also mentioned including a flywheel to cancel out gyroscopic forces as the robot turned with its weapon spun up. RIPperoni would eventually implement this in their design, but had it been accepted, Mike the Bike would have been the first robot to implement this technology into a BattleBots competitor. The team did not have much experience with combat robotics, but they did have experience with drones as shown by their YouTube channel.[2] Very little else is known on the team including where the team is based out of although it is known they were a school based team.
The team were not accepted for World Championship VI and no application video was revealed ahead of World Championship VII, inferring they did not apply in 2022. It is unknown if construction was ever started as the application video only showed a concept CAD.
