Micro frenZy was an antweight robot built by Team Minus Zero which competed at the first BattleAnts event held during Season 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was effectively a scaled-down version of the team's iconic heavyweight frenZy, which had competed since the inaugural 1999 BattleBots events. Like frenZy, it was a four-wheel drive robot armed with an large, electrically-powered axe.
The main difference, aside from the obvious size discrepancy, was that Micro frenZy sported a transparent armor shell rather than frenZy's iconic yellow and black coloring. Micro frenZy won its first fight against an unknown opponent, but lost its second to Gefahr and was eliminated.
Outside BattleBots[]
Micro frenZy would compete at the inaugural SOZBOTS event in February 2002, prior to Season 5.0. It defeated V1 and Jims Bot in the opening two rounds before losing out to Killer. In the loser's bracket, Micro frenZy again defeated V1 but lost its next fight to LB.[1][2] The robot was redesigned after this, though now featured a sloped shell which featured the SOZBOTS logo and website across the front and sides. Micro frenZy also sported two triangular wedges protruding from its front to help guide opponents into the path of its weapon.
Returning for SOZBOTS 1.2 with its new design, Micro frenZy this time lost its opening battle to Complete Ripoff, redeeming itself with a win over Cheese Wedge before losing out to Loki in the loser's bracket.[3]
It would not compete at the next event, but returned again for SOZBOTS 1.4. Here, its Round 1 bye was followed by losses to Jimmy Crack Corn and Country Squire.[4]
Micro frenZy was originally the No.6 ranked 1lb robot in mid-2002 as per the SOZBOTS site's rankings[5], before falling to No.16 as the weight division expanded.[6] It fell further to No.23 in 2003.[7] Micro frenZy would continue to compete before retiring later that year.
