Mercury was a lightweight[1] that attempted to enter an unknown season of Comedy Central BattleBots. Although the intended season was unknown, it is likely to be one of the earlier seasons (Long Beach 1999, Las Vegas 1999, Season 1.0) that was targeted as the team website was set up in 1999.[2]
Mercury was to be a wedge shaped robot with a flipping ramp powered by two actuators.[3] The only other aspect of the design was that it was planned to be constructed out of stainless steel.
Team captain Shawn Frayne was a student during the design phase of Mercury, which meant that he did not have many funds to construct Mercury. His website highlights trying to raise funds or donated parts for the construction of Mercury. It is unknown how far into the design or construction of Mercury the team got. Regardless, Mercury never competed in any BattleBots event.
