Mayhem was a heavyweight robot designed by Team Mayhem which applied for BattleBots World Championship II.
It was a four-wheel drive, camo green robot with a box-shaped chassis. At the front of Mayhem were two triangular prongs feeding into a large, overhead bar spinner. The team cited Giant Nut winners Carlo Bertocchini and Tony Buchignani as inspiration for Mayhem, with its design reminiscent of the latter's middleweight Hazard. The robot was based around Carlo Bertocchini's robot kits that powered Plan X.
The team previously built robots in the early 2000s, such as U.F.O. (Unidentified Falling Object) and Table Menace. They would design robots in the years which followed, but would ultimately not compete in BattleBots.
Team Mayhem's application video was produced in December 2015, but it was only uploaded publicly to team captain Todd Rogers' YouTube channel in November 2022.[1] Mayhem was not selected for World Championship II, and the team are not known to have applied for any other seasons.
Trivia[]
- Mayhem was unique in that it used sealed lead-acid batteries, a considerably heavier option for power than the more traditional lithium polymer batteries seen in many modern heavyweight robots.
