Not to be confused with the 2016 season competitor, Escape Velocity.

Maximum Velocity was a heavyweight robot designed by Team Velocity, which attempted to qualify for BattleBots World Championship II.

It was a four-wheel drive robot designed as an upscaled version of Team Velocity's successful 60lb build K2. Armed with a single-toothed vertical spinner made from two-inch 6AL-4V titanium, the robot also had hinged wedgelets feeding into the primary weapon, similar to those seen on later version of Bite Force. Its chassis was to be manufactured from 6061 aluminum, with a quarter-inch polycarbonate top panel protecting the electronics.

Maximum Velocity also featured a rear-mounted self-righting mechanism which had a range of motion of over 180 degrees, meaning the arms could double up as lifters. It also boasted multiple wedges which could be swapped out to better suit their opponents, including a heavier wedge to combat horizontal spinners.

Team Velocity revealed their CAD work in December 2015, but were not selected for the 2016 season for unspecified reasons.

Outside BattleBots[]

Competing since 2005, Team Velocity have also built an array of robots in other weight classes: Terminal Velocity (120lb), K2 (60lb), Terminal Impact, Apex and Fiasco (12lb), and Debacle (3lb).

The most successful of these, K2, enjoyed a successful RoboGames career between 2007 and 2017, amassing over 30 wins and picking up two gold and two silver medals in the lightweight division.
