Low Blow was a lightweight robot built by Team B.O.B., which competed in two seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.

It was a flat, wide dome-shaped robot armed with a small spinning saw blade on top. The robot would have opponents drive up its dome and then grind away at them with its horizontally-mounted saw. Low Blow did surprisingly well, reaching the Round of 16 in Season 4.0.

The team that entered Low Blow also entered a middleweight version called Mow-Blow in Season 5.0. Wray Russ also competed with Deathstar, B.O.B. and Son of Bob. Team member Rick Russ captained Final Destiny under the Team B.O.B. name, later building Jet Lag, Swamp Thing and forming part of Hardcore Robotics and Tombstone.

Outside BattleBots[]

Low Blow briefly competed at two Steel Conflict events after BattleBots under the name Devil's Advocate. It competed under RUSS Robotics in the 60lb division.[1] Devil's Advocate first lost a battle to Margarita before beating Eric the Red and Typhoon in the loser's bracket. However, defeat to Agsma saw it eliminated.

At Steel Conflict II, Devil's Advocate again lost its opening battle, this time to Slap 'Em Silly. Two wins followed, but it was eliminated with a 2-2 record by X-30.

Low Blow vs. Matts Bammer

Low Blow advanced to the TV rounds, where it faced Matts Bammer. Low Blow won the fight by KO and moved on.

Now in the Round of 32, Low Blow took on Toe-Crusher. Both robots went straight at each other, but both robots didn't come near each other for twenty seconds. Both robots barely touched each other and both robots stayed away from each other again. Low Blow got under Toe-Crusher and Low Blow's saw blade made contact with Toe-Crusher, producing sparks in the process. Toe-Crusher briefly got under Low Blow, but Low Blow ran away before it could be pushed around the BattleBox. As both robots were fighting each other, Toe-Crusher backed up onto the killsaws and was sent flying across the BattleBox. Toe Crusher got its wedge under Low Blow and pushed it across the BattleBox floor, but Low Blow slipped away before they reached the arena wall. Toe-Crusher got under Low Blow again and got stuck on a seam on the arena floor. Low Blow circled around and tried to get under Toe-Crusher, but only drove up onto Toe-Crusher's wedge and the thwackbot began pushing Low Blow towards the pulverizer. Low Blow got hit by the pulverizer four times and Low Blow tried to run away. Toe-Crusher attempted to push Low Blow back under the pulverizer, but just drove on top of Low Blow. Toe-Crusher retreated before the pulverizer could fall, and Low Blow proceeded to drive under the pulverizer again and took a shot right on its sawblade. Toe-Crusher came in again and got under Low Blow this time, but only managed to push Low Blow out of the way. As Toe-Crusher left Low Blow, the pulverizer fell on Toe-Crusher, breaking the antenna and Low Blow escaped to the center of the BattleBox. Toe-Crusher turned a bit, then stopped moving again as it was out of the remote control's range and thus was counted out. Low Blow won the fight by KO at 2:37 and continued on.

Low Blow vs. Carnage Raptor

Advancing to the Top 16, Low Blow faced Carnage Raptor. Carnage Raptor won the fight on a 32-13 judges' decision and Low Blow was eliminated from the tournament.

Lightweight Royal Rumble

Low Blow wasn't finished however as it participated the Lightweight Royal Rumble at the end of the tournament. However, Low Blow never got going and it lost overall to Dr. Inferno Jr..
