King Crunch is a heavyweight robot designed by Heidenhain Robotics which applied for BattleBots World Championship VIII.

It is a four-wheel drive robot armed with lifting arms as well as a grabbing arm. The design is somewhat reminiscent of the title-winning World Championship I build of Bite Force, but is in fact a scaled-up version of captain Dan Wiseman's 1lb robot, Captain Crunch.

Little else is known about King Crunch's design, nor whether Heidenhain Robotics intend to compete in BattleBots Proving Ground with their heavyweight design in order to prove the robot's functionality ahead of World Championship VIII selection.

In July 2023, Dan Wiseman posted his CAD of King Crunch to Reddit and Facebook, stating his imminent intention to apply for BattleBots. However several weeks later, he confirmed King Crunch had been rejected. Wiseman stated he had also proposed another design known as Sucker Punch.

As Team STUPID, team captain Dan Wiseman previously competed alongside his father in Seasons 4.0 and 5.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots with a middleweight front-hinged flipper called Strange Brew. They intended to also enter a superheavyweight called Chester into Season 5.0, but had to withdraw after being irreparably damaged by a fire a week prior to the filming dates.

Outside BattleBots

On the US live circuit, captain Dan Wiseman has competed since 2008 with a variety of robots, including the aforementioned Captain Crunch as well as the 150g robot Crunchberry, Y U Mad Tho and Tiny Rage. Captain Crunch is a championship-winning robot in its division, and also fought at RoboGames competitions as far back as 2013.
