Khaos 3 is a heavyweight robot built by the JCOS Robotics with the intention of competing in BattleBots: Destruct-A-Thon.
It is a four-wheel drive, invertible robot armed with a small, chain-driven vertical spinner mounted between a pair of wedgelets.
The robot sports a military theme, with its frame painted dark green and its name, stylized as a code name for RoboGames, spray-painted on either side. The JCOS Robotics team plan to enter Khaos 3 into BattleBots Proving Ground, but it is not yet scheduled to compete, even with dates extended to mid-2024.
JCOS Robotics previously competed in BattleBots IQ with their middleweight robot, The Grid.
Outside BattleBots[]
Entering RoboGames 2016 with Lil Pip, the team found success as they reached the semi-finals of the heavyweight division before losing out in destructive fashion to Touro Maximus.
In 2017, the team entered Khaos into that year's RoboGames. The first iteration was a four-wheel drive, box-shaped robot with a considerably smaller, front-mounted vertical spinner. Khaos won its first battle by forfeit, but suffered losses to Echo 2.0 and Prometheus, and was eliminated as a result.
That year, the team also entered a middleweight called Anti matter. It suffered a similar fate, winning its first fight against Demoralizer by forfeit, before losing again to Team RioBotz and Touro, and then being dominated by Black and Blue.
Returning in 2018, Khaos took a win over Nigel, before losing out to Cataclysm - the robot which later became WAR Hawk.[1]
At Robotica 2022, the JCOS Robotics Squad entered Lil Pip Resurrected, where it defeated HappyCatter, but lost to Slammo! and Piranha.
Khaos 3 competed at RoboGames 2023, receiving a bye in the first round and then picking up a win against Ray Billings' Stinkeye. In its next battle, it faced Jim and Forrest Yeh's Ragin' Scotsman, losing by knockout after becoming pinned against the wall. Khaos 3 then lost to Whomper after being flipped over, and was eliminated from the competition. Khaos 3 returned for a three-way rumble against Bullion and DOOM, but lost to the latter.
Khaos 3 was signed up to compete at RoboGames 2024, however dropped out for unknown reasons.
