Karl was a middleweight robot that was built by a group of students from Minnesota called Team Karl, which competed in the inaugral BattleBots IQ tournament in 2002.

It was a silver, two wheeled robot armed with a circular saw protruding through its front wedge. Karl did reasonably well in the competition, reaching the sixth round of the loser's bracket.

Karl vs. Trojan Warrior Moving into Round 3, Karl took on Trojan Warrior. The Minnesota team picked up their third win and continued on. |
Karl vs. The Edge Karl now found itself against The Edge, piloted by Team UI's Marc DeVidts. The Edge won this fight, relegating Karl to the loser's bracket. |
Karl vs. WhirlWind Not yet out of the tournament, Karl was drawn against WhirlWind in its next battle. It returned to winning ways and advanced. |
