KJO was a heavyweight robot designed by Team MNSTR Robotics which applied for BattleBots World Championship III but was not selected for the competition.
It was a four-wheel drive robot armed with a pneumatic flipping arm and a 40lb wedge leading into it.[1] The primary weapon utilized pneumatic rams operating between 900-1100psi. KJO could run on CO2 or high pressure air, making use of either twin 5lb CO2 tanks, or SCBA air cylinders for the latter.
The team were not accepted for World Championship III. Despite an older version of the robot having competed at Robogames, It is unknown if this new and improved version of KJO's construction was ever complete. No final build pictures or videos of the robot have surfaced. Team MNSTR Robotics and KJO are not known to have applied for any other seasons of BattleBots.
Outside BattleBots[]
Team MNSTR Robotics (formerly known as Team Artros) were a team originally from Jersey in the United Kingdom with a wealth of experience in Robot Combat[2], starting out with Deathwish which attempted to compete at Robot Wars Series 4 but failed to qualify. The team later attempted to compete in Series 7 of Robot Wars with Artros and The British Bulldog, both of which were flippers
After Robot Wars and the team's subsequent move to Winnipeg, Team Artros would continue to compete at the heavyweight level in North American events with Artros and new robot The Defyer, unfortunately with very little success, the teams best result coming at War Bots Extreme 3 in July 2006 in which The Defyer finished in 3rd place of the Heavyweight bracket, going 2-2.
In 2011, after taking a 3 year hiatus from the sport the team would rebrand to their current name of Team MNSTR Robotics[3], building the first version of KJO and acquiring the interchangeable Heavyweight LNW off of Team LNW, renaming it DXTER. KJO would perform poorly with back to back losses to Raging Scotsman and Vice Crypt. After this, Team MNSTR Robotics would acquire Team Hammertime's heavyweight flipper Bounty Hunter (previously known as SubZero) and compete at Robogames 2011 with both it and DXTER with little success once more. Spartan managed to go 1-2 and DXTER had a decent run in the bracket, going 2-2.
