K.I.S.S. was a heavyweight robot built by Team K.I.S.S. for the Long Beach 1999 event of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a four-wheeled, double-wedged silver robot with no active weapon. K.I.S.S. was built quickly and cheaply for the event due to the lack of robots registered. On Team K.I.S.S's website, K.I.S.S was built out of a salvaged electric lawn mower. Its shell was built out of stolen street signs. It didn't perform well in competition, losing both of its battles.
K.I.S.S. stood for "Keep It Simple, Stupid". This was also the team's name and motto.
"We had to find something light and strong, fortunately all over the highway they have these convenient pieces of aluminum bolted right there just sort of taken so, we happen to pick up a few of them and I built the body. The body is t6 aluminum". Steven Nelson explains how they got the metal for K.I.S.S's shell
K.I.S.S was retired after Long Beach. The Robot made an appearance in Episode 6 of Comedy Central Season 1 during a scene showing S.L.A.M.'s team, where it was used as a test bot for S.L.A.M's spinner without its shell.
