The It's Your Battle Sweepstakes was a one-time contest held during Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a competition held by the network where fans would suggest their own robot designs to former Giant Nut winner Donald Hutson, responsible for builds such as Diesector, Tazbot and Root Canal, which he would build in the off-season. The winner was allowed compete with the robot in the following season and Comedy Central also provided $5,000 to cover travel costs for the winner. A series of videos were shared to the BattleBots website to accompany the announcement of this contest, each centered around a specific part of building and testing a robot. Revealed during Season 4.0 by Tim Green, the competition was also announced by Hutson on his team website in February 2002.
The competition attracted over 6,000 applications, and was ultimately won by Michigan resident Lance Lyle, as revealed in Episode 14 of Season 5.0.[1] He therefore competed in the middleweight bracket with Easty Beast. According to Hutson on his team website, Comedy Central provided $5,000 to cover travel costs for the winner Lance Lyle also named the robot.[2]
Lance Lyle would not progress far in competition, however, as despite winning its first battle against Mohammed Ali, Easty Beast lost in the preliminary rounds to Spike Demon. As such, Easty Beast would not receive a televised appearance in BattleBots.
