Interstellar Overdrive was a 15lb robot built by Mike Jeffries of Near Chaos Robotics, which fought in the 2009 BattleBots IQ event.
A slightly heavier version of his 12lb robot, Apollyon, Interstellar Overdrive was a two-wheel drive robot armed with no active weaponry, but a steel wedge at the front and two claws to help push and control opponents. Its exposed wheels were partially protected by a curved back plate which bent around the back halves of each drive wheel. The top of the robot was adorned with RIT, referencing the Rochester Institute of Technology, where Jeffries studied at the time. According to the team, Interstellar Overdrive fought seven times during the 2009 event.
Mike Jeffries and Julie Simancek would return to BattleBots with Bombshell in 2016 and 2018, reaching the title fight in World Championship II before Jeffries relinquished his captaincy role for World Championship IV in 2019. He has taken on the role of Match Steward since 2022.
