The ITV network began in 1955, as one of the original channels seen on early television. Its name derived from the idea of becoming independent from the BBC, who initially had the entire monopoly on television broadcasting in the United Kingdom.
Over the decades, the network have expanded to a total of four main channels, named ITV1 through to ITV4. As well as this, a channel based upon reality television named ITVBe was launched in October 2014. ITV also has children's channels, notably CITV and LittleBe.
ITV4[]
On November 1, 2005, ITV launched their fourth television channel, ITV4. The channel typically consists of US dramas and classic action series from the 60s, 70s and 80s. The channel has since become more diverse, airing All Elite Wrestling, various sports and shows such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and the UK quiz show Tenable. Its target audience is predominantly male.
ITVX[]
ITV launched a streaming service in 2008 named ITV Hub. In December 2022, ITV Player was renamed to ITVX and offered numerous opportunities to stream ITV programs, including BattleBots. ITVX also offers more exclusive programming than ITV Hub previously had.
