Hurricane was a superheavyweight robot built by a group of college students from Tulsa University which competed in Season 4.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It was a blue octagonal-shaped full-body spinner armed with eight cutting teeth and armored in Lexan. Hurricane was estimated to spin at around 1800rpm.[1] However, it did not perform well in competition, losing its only match against Armageddon.
The team was formed when Professor Doug Jussaume suggested to two of his students to form an all-female combat robotics team. The team was then able to secure funding for the robot build directly from the university's president and school of engineer dean. Hurricane took seven months to build from start to finish.[2]
The team returned for Season 5.0 with middleweight Feminine Wiles and heavyweight Tulsa Hurricane.

Hurricane vs. Armageddon Hurricane's first BattleBots opponent was Armageddon. Hurricane was quickly rammed into by Armageddon, which bent its Lexan body badly. Armageddon circled Hurricane, then rammed it again, and again, and again, mangling it severely. Hurricane eventually got stuck on the wall, but Armageddon rammed it free, breaking the lid free and lifting it up, almost knocking it off, in the process. Hurricane didn't do much in the fight as its spinner was not working, and it lost 0-45 to Armageddon. |
