Hugs & Kisses, alternatively stylized as Hugs and Kisses, is a heavyweight robot built by The Bot Dudes which competed in the 2009 BattleBots Pro Championship and applied for BattleBots World Championship VII under the same name.
Measuring almost five feet wide, the original 2009 build of Hugs & Kisses was a six-wheel drive, scaled-up version of the team's middleweight Huggy Bear, which had previously competed in the final three seasons of the Comedy Central run. As such, it adopted a low H-shaped chassis with wedges and angled skirts on each side, but differed from Huggy Bear in being armed with two vertically-spinning flywheels mounted on the center section. The entire robot featured a pink, black and white color scheme, with its top armor decorated with red lipstick marks resembling kisses. Hugs & Kisses used nickel-metal hydride batteries to power its drive, and sealed lead-acid batteries for its weaponry. However, it is not known whether these were upgraded to the more common lithium polymer batteries for its most recent application to BattleBots.
Hugs & Kisses initially performed well in its Pro Championship debut, winning its first match against The Loach before being defeated by Vault. After benefiting from The Black Knight's forfeit from the Loser's Bracket, Hugs & Kisses would win again against Shrike, only to be eliminated following a destructive knockout loss against Emily.[1][2] According to a 2022 Facebook post from Robotic Death Company, Hugs & Kisses came out of retirement to apply for World Championship VII, though the extent of its potential upgrades is unknown.[3] This application was confirmed by Greg Munson, who also stated that Hugs & Kisses would not be competing in the seventh reboot season.[4]

Hugs & Kisses vs. The Loach Hugs & Kisses' first 2009 Pro Championship match put it up against The Loach in the main Winner's Bracket. Official BattleBots match records list both robots as having fought for the whole three minutes, with Hugs & Kisses winning the subsequent Judges' decision.[1][2] |
Hugs & Kisses vs. Vault Hugs & Kisses next faced Vault, a four-bar flipper entered by Team UI. This was the first of two matches of its campaign with footage publicly released by the Autodesk Inventor YouTube channel.[5] Starting from the blue square, Hugs & Kisses immediately shuffled and spun up its weapons, but was slow to attack Vault as it kept distance in the early moments. Vault briefly slipped underneath Hugs & Kisses' left drive pod, but this allowed Hugs & Kisses to push Vault back as the two competitors briefly locked together. Despite this, the Bot Dudes machine was again unable to approach Vault, despite bumping into Vault once more, and appeared to lose a small component following a further head-to-head collision. This, however, forced Vault up the front of Hugs & Kisses, allowing Hugs & Kisses to get its right-most disk into contact with its opponent's front. The Team UI machine, however, was able to escape as both competitors briefly locked together. Following another pushing match, Hugs & Kisses again attempted to chase the faster and more maneuvrable Vault, only to stop in the center of the BattleBox. Vault capitalized by driving into and throwing Hugs & Kisses on top of the screws. Hugs & Kisses was stranded from that moment on, ultimately losing the match by knockout after one minute and 35 seconds.[1][2] |
Hugs & Kisses vs. The Black Knight Now relegated to the Loser's Bracket, Hugs & Kisses was next due to fight The Black Knight for a chance to remain in the competition. However, The Black Knight was forced to forfeit according to BattleBots records, allowing Hugs & Kisses to progress automatically.[1][2] |
Hugs & Kisses vs. Shrike Hugs & Kisses would proceed to face newcomers Shrike. Both machines fought for the whole three minutes according to official BattleBots match records, with The Bot Dudes' machine winning on a judges' decision.[1][2] |
Hugs & Kisses vs. Emily On the back of this win, Hugs & Kisses next fought the horizontal bar spinner of Team Moon's Emily. Footage released by Autodesk Inventor confirms that it started backwards from the red square and was fitted with its rear defensive plow.[6] Hugs & Kisses was at first tentative to leave the square, but approached Emily in a bid to deflect its opponent's weapon. However, a succession of blows from Emily caused major damage to the rear-left corner and tore the plow off the same side. Unfazed, Hugs & Kisses waited before reversing into Emily again; however, the collision resulted in Emily shearing off its left-most disc. Hugs & Kisses continued to pursue Emily in spite of this, surviving another collision which lifted Emily upwards. After a brief hesitation, it drove forwards towards Emily, but stopped upon being lifted by the hellraisers. In a single blow, Emily tore off Hugs & Kisses' remaining disk, the attack incapacitating Hugs & Kisses completely. The mangled remains of Hugs & Kisses sustained a few more blows from Emily's spinner after this, resulting in its armor getting torn open and many of its internal components being ejected from the chassis. This ended a brutal knockout defeat for Hugs & Kisses after 44 seconds, eliminating it from the Pro Championship with a 2-2 match record.[1][2] |
