- "For Season 4.0, the team wanted tougher armor. They did extensive 'puncture resistance testing' dropping a 40 pound spiked weight onto various materials to see how they held up."
- — The bot's description from BattleBots: The Official Guide
HexaDecimator, often known as Hexy D, is a heavyweight robot built by Team WhoopAss which competed in the final three seasons of Comedy Central BattleBots.
It is a boxy, wedge-shaped robot which was armored in titanium. During its Comedy Central BattleBots run, HexaDecimator sported a powerful hydraulic flipping arm which could also be used to clamp and control opponents. HexaDecimator did well in BattleBots, reaching the Semi-Finals in Season 3.0, the Quarter-Finals in Season 4.0 and 5.0, and winning the Heavyweight Royal Rumble in its debut year.
Team WhoopAss also built a lightweight version of HexaDecimator called Hexy Jr., which reached the Quarter-Finals in both Seasons 4.0 and 5.0.
Outside BattleBots[]
Outside BattleBots, HexaDecimator fought in the 2003 Robocide event. Defeating 8 Ball in the first round, it lost out to Shrederator and fell into the loser's bracket. There, HexaDecimator saw off Condor, King of Diamonds, Tornado Mer and Maximum Paralysis to earn the right to face Shrederator for a second time in the loser's bracket final. However, HexaDecimator suffered the same fate and was eliminated at this stage.
Returning for an event titled TSN, HexaDecimator again fought Shrederator in the first round of the competition. It lost, and fell into the loser's bracket. HexaDecimator built momentum with victories over Conquering Clown, Crabmeat and Terra Maki. It advanced in the competition, only to be stopped in its tracks by Team LOGICOM's Shrederator for the fourth time in two events.
In 2006, a redesigned HexaDecimator made its RoboGames debut. Although it lost its opening battle to CycloneBot, HexaDecimator redeemed itself with wins over Spinning Mayhem, Devil's Plunger and Compressor. It earned revenge over CycloneBot en route to the business end of the competition, though eventually lost to SJ and finished fourth overall.
HexaDecimator made a surprise return at RoboGames 2017, where it was considerably less successful. Having lost to Whoops! in its first fight, it defeated Sluggo before falling short to Boris Badenov by judges' decision and being eliminated. HexaDecimator competed in RoboGames 2018 as well, but failed to secure a win against either Lucky or Ragin' Scotsman. With the event's cancelation after 2018, HexaDecimator lay dormant as heavyweight events in the US became scarce.
With the announcement of RoboGames 2023, HexaDecimator was one of the first robots to have been signed up for its revised 250lb heavyweight competition.[1] It defeated Puck in Round 1, before winning against DOOM in the second round. In the winner's bracket, HexaDecimator sparked an upset as it defeated Manta, but could not get the better of White Rabbit as it fell into the loser's bracket. Following this, HexaDecimator lost to Ziggy Jr. and was eliminated from the competition.
In a now deleted video, the team shared footage from a weapon test, where the flipper was now powered by a flywheel, similar to the weapon of Blip. Another test video shared in May 2025 revealed HexaDecimator utilized swerve drive, as seen on 2022 competitor Triple Crown.[2] A later video from September 2025, HexaDecimator was revealed to have reverted back to pneumatics for its flipper system.[3]

HexaDecimator vs. That Good R&D HexaDecimator's first ever match was against That Good R&D. In the beginning of the match, HexaDecimator was having trouble getting its flipping arm under That Good R&D. Shortly after, HexaDecimator finally got underneath That Good R&D and held it on top with the flipping arm, then driving it against the arena wall. At some point, HexaDecimator's flipping arm jammed That Good R&D's drive train and disabled the motor controller. This immobilized That Good R&D and it was now being counted out. HexaDecimator won by KO and moved on. |

Despite still showing heavy damage from its bout with Son of Whyachi, it did very well as it flipped Mechavore, Nightmare, KillerHurtz again and Little Sister. It also flipped frenZy twice, though frenZy self-righted afterwards. It also flipped Voltronic onto its left-side, though Voltronic was later saved by Sharkbyte. Showing strength and durability throughout, HexaDecimator was eventually declared the winner of the Heavyweight Royal Rumble. |

Heavyweight Royal Rumble HexaDecimator returned again for the Heavyweight Royal Rumble at the end of the tournament. Just seconds into the rumble, HexaDecimator took a hard hit and immediately stopped moving. The hit had managed to flip the power switch off, which disabled the motor controller and burned out the radio power voltage regulator. HexaDecimator was therefore immobile for the rest of the rumble as Little Sister won overall. |
